The Scout Center Auction was the creative idea of Lyle Sutton. The concept was simple, raise money for the Scout Center project by auctioning off items donated by community businesses and promote those businesses during the auction.
This is our seventh auction and the auction parties are already starting to form. Come down to the City of Brea Council Chambers on the 12th of October at 4:00 p.m., or organize a party at your home and have friends bring their cell phones so all can bid on these wonderful items. The auction will be televised on Adelphia cable channel 3 in Brea, La Habra, La Habra Heights and channel 12 in Diamond Bar and Rowland Heights.
Here is how it works. About every half-hour a board of twelve items will be presented and bids taken on each item. Audience seated in the council chamber bid against those interested parties bidding by phone. The highest bidder can pay for the item either that night at the auction or on Sunday the 12th, when it is picked up from noon to three p.m., at the Brea Lions Scout Center (Old City Hall). Cash or checks made payable to the Brea Lions Scout Center Foundation, and MasterCard or Visa are acceptable as payment options.
If you decide you would rather make a donation than participate in the auction, you can do so by mailing your donation to Brea Lions Scout Center Foundation, P.O. Box 9383 Brea, CA 92822.
Donations of materials listed on this web site or volunteering of labor is welcome. Please contact Jan Wingerter of Wingerter Secretarial Services at 714-529-8143.
The goal is to be able to complete the restoration of the facility by the first quarter of 2003. Parts of the Scout Center will be available for scouting programs very soon. Your participation and support is truly appreciated by all of the Brea Scouting organizations.
